Antequera Inland Golf Guide
The one thing that’s guaranteed about the Antequera area is that its vast plains and strikingly beautiful, craggy mountain ranges make it the perfect spot to develop golf courses. The first completed project Antequera Golf is an absolutely stunning example of what you can do with a couple million square meters of rugged olive grove and a little imagination! If you haven’t played Antequera Golf you’re missing one of the prettiest courses in Andalucia! This is one of the most ambitious and biggest Golf Development projects in Spain.
A stunning 16th century Monastery high above Antequera and the golf course, La Magdalena is also part of the project and has been beautifully restored with many of its period features well preserved, including the majestic Arabic arches, the elaborate wall frescoes, high vaulted ceilings with exposed original wooden beams and stunning tiled floors and patios. It now operates as a luxurious 5 star boutique Hotel & Spa with 24 rooms and suites and has been open since December of 2008. This is the second hotel on the property as they have been operating a 4 star hotel for six years. The project also includes a commercial centre and a conference centre.
Antequera Golf is a must play for any golfer with spectacular scenery from its tee boxes and fairways. The Club offers excellent facilities and the lit practice area features a large target range and 2 practice putting greens plus practice bunkers and a large chipping area.
There is also some fantastic golf in Granada and Sevilla including the José María Olazábal designed Real Club de Golf de Sevilla and a little further on in Huelva province there are some outstanding courses on the Atlantic coast. It’s inevitable that more and more courses will spring up in this magnificent region adding exceptional value to any property purchased in the Antequera, Estepa and Marchena area.
